The Ambassador



Born in Rome in 1962, Stefano MOSCATELLI graduated in Political Sciences at the University “La Sapienza” of Rome and in 1991 joined the diplomatic service of Italy. His first assignment was within the Directorate General for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 1995 he was appointed as Consul of Italy in Maracaibo (Venezuela) and in 1999 he moved to Quito (Ecuador) where he worked as Counsellor.

In 2003 he was back in Rome where he was assigned to the Press Office of the Ministry.

From 2005 to 2009 he served as Consul General of Italy in Cordoba (Argentina). From 2009 to 2012 he was appointed as Charge d’Affaires in Harare (Zimbabwe). In 2012 he was confirmed as Ambassador of Italy in Zimbabwe.

In 2014 he returned in Rome, where he became Inspector of the Ministry and of Offices abroad, and then Deputy Director General for the Administration, IT and Communications.

In 2016 he was promoted to the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary.

The 16th of October 2016 he has been appointed Ambassador of Italy to the State of Eritrea.
