On the morning of 2 June, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, Ambassador Alfonso Di Riso, accompanied by a representative of the Eritrean Armed Forces, Col. Gherezghier Mahari, and embassy officials, paid tribute to the fallen Italians and Eritreans by laying a laurel wreath at the Monumental Cemetery in Asmara.
In the evening, at the Residenza “Villa Roma”, Ambassador Di Riso hosted the usual celebratory reception, attended by around 200 guests, including Eritrean Ministers and other authorities, representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as representatives of the Italian and Eritrean business world and civil society.
